''Bodonian'' casing-in machine

A 'Bodonian' binding is a type of binding characterized by a specific method of attaching the cover, spine, and back cover of a book. This method involves the use of endsheets which are glued to both the inside of the cover and the first and last pages of the book. A strip of gauze is glued to the spine of the book to reinforce the binding. The front and back covers are made of two layers of sturdy cardboard or paperboard, often covered with a decorative material such as leather or cloth. The edges of these boards can be either turned in (folded over) or cut straight.
